Second Harvest Food Bank
Eagle River Secondary Students helped picking tomatoes, peppers and zucchinis at Sorrento Centre Farm for Second Harvest Food Bank

Since 2012 a total of $29,615 from the Bike for Your Life Century Ride have helped to fund the Second Harvest Food Bank and the Shuswap Trail Alliance. We continue to support Second Harvest. 10% of the funds raised from the 2015 – 2017 Rides ($2595) has been donated to the Shuswap Trail Alliance.

Salmon Arm’s Second Harvest Food Bank was established in 2001. The Food Bank benefits approximately 450 people each week.

Second Harvest Food BankFood Bank donations come from local businesses (mostly day old stock), local individuals, a variety of clubs and churches in the community including Sorrento Centre Farm. Cash donations to purchase food come from business and community fund raisers, the Salmon Arm Churches Thrift Store, grants from the city of Salmon Arm, the local Credit Union and Shuswap Community Foundation. Global Okanagan (CHBC) out of Kelowna has also done fundraisers for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Still it’s a struggle to meet the need week after week.

Proceeds from the Bike for Your Life Century Ride will help fund the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Thank you.Shuswap Trail Alliance logo
