Start and Finish: on 5th Street SW next to the Cyclists Lunch – Playground area of Blackburn Park, Salmon Arm BC
This year’s “100K Ride” challenges you to cycle 2X around Yankee Flats and TWICE up the Yankee Flats north end hill: a 4.5K climb – average 4% grade with sections that kick up to 6% – 8%. Cycling off the top of the climb your reward heading south is 10K of rolling descent with great views. At the south – bottom end of Yankee Flats turn right at the mail boxes on Salmon River Road. Watch for cyclists and cars approaching this junction on your left. The Aid Station/Porta Biffy is about 600M south of this junction with the turn-around just north of Highway 97. Total elevation gain on the 98.5K route is 954M.
Why the route change? Morgan Bridge’s east side approach was washed away by high water on the Salmon River in early May. The bridge, located near Glenemma, is on the Ride’s usual 100K and 75K routes. Bridge repairs will be started and completed sometime this fall.
